xmlTVNZ

xmlTVNZ is a Television Guide grabber for New Zealand it grabs EPG data and saves it in the xmltv file format. This format is commonly used by many PVR applications including GB-PVR, MediaPortal, SageTV, MythTV (Linux), and can be used with Windows Media Centre using a third party application.

Its written in c# and runs at the Command Prompt so you can update you television guide once a day without user interaction, via a .bat file and Windows Sceheduled Tasks.

Requirements

xmlTVNZ is .net application can run on Windows, Linux or Mac.
Windows requires .net 2.0 be installed, and Linux and Mac require Mono to be installed.

NOTE: Some Linux users have reported issues with certain builds of Mono and recommend using this version of Mono. If you get any "MAXHINCR" or "MAX_HEAP_SECTS" warnings try installing that version.

How To Use

On it's own xmlTVNZ isn't all that useful, it just produces a .xml file of the weekly television lineup. But many PVR applications are able to use the created file to populate their EPG. The following PVR applications are known to work with xmlTVNZ

Myth TV (Free, Linux)

Sage TV

To actually create the generated .xml file, first you need to specify what channels you want to download. Since there are quite a few channels you can use the xmlTVNZ Command Builder to create the command you will need to run on a daily basis. It will also show you how to setup a scheduled task in Windows which can automatically run xmlTVNZ daily.
